Peabody, Massachusetts. TÜV SÜD America Inc., a global testing and certification services organization, is pleased to announce that Mr. Dirk Schroeter, Product Manager Industry Service has been appointed as a member of the ASME A17 Elevator New Technology Committee.

The committee was established in 2003 by the ASME A17 Code Committee in order to develop a bi-national Performance-Based Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators. Members are appointed from ASME A17 Code Committee members and assume leadership roles in developing new code requirements, standards, regulations, and in promoting the introduction of safe, innovative technology for the elevator industry.

According to Mr. Schroeter, "It is certainly a great honor to have been accepted into this group of dedicated elevator and escalator experts, who in their professional lives and through perfecting the current elevator standards, have accomplished so much for the safety of elevators and escalators. The committee is dedicated to bringing the performance-based elevator standard ASME A17.7 / CSA B44.7 to the next level to enhance technology, safety, and energy efficiency of North America's elevators and escalators."

TÜV SÜD America is an Accredited Elevator Certification Organization (AECO) to ASME A17.7/CSA B44.7, holding accreditation through both ANSI and the SCC, along with offering Notified Body services to the EU Lift Directive through TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH.
