Peabody, Massachusetts. TÜV SÜD America Inc., a global testing, inspection and certification services firm, announces that Mr. Ian Nicol has been named to the role of President and CEO for Americas operations, including TÜV SÜD Canada, TÜV SÜD América de México, and TÜV SÜD America do Brasil.

"He brings a solid management and business background to lead TÜV SÜD America in its continued course of development and growth."

Originally from Motherwell, Scotland, Mr. Nicol has served in numerous senior management roles in Certification, Inspection, and Testing industries worldwide. Following time in the UK as Managing Director of MTS Humberside, Ian moved to the UAE in 1993 to successfully establish business in the Middle East for Bodycote Materials Testing, the world's leading provider of thermal processing services.

In 1997, Ian was appointed President for Bodycote Materials Testing North America, relocating to Houston, Texas. From 1997 through 2007, he established Bodycote Materials Testing as the market leader in Materials Testing. In 2007, Ian was appointed President and CEO of Bodycote Testing Inc. and helped guide the business through a successful sale process, with the business being sold to private equity at the end of 2008. In 2010, he joined SGS Industrial Services NAM as Senior Vice President before joining TÜV SÜD America as President and CEO this summer.

A graduate of Bell College of Hamilton, Scotland in Metallurgical Engineering, Mr. Nicol resides in Chicago, Illinois where he enjoys coaching soccer, playing golf, and gardening. He is married with two daughters and a son.
