AS9100: Aerospace Management System
TÜV SÜD America provides accredited certification for AS9100, the Aerospace addition to ISO 9001 Quality Management Certification. AS9100 combines the effective standards of the ISO 9001 standard with supplementary items of how ISO pertains to the aerospace industry. Additionally, TÜV also provides accredited certification for AS9120. AS Management
Systems First published in May 1997 by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) as AS9000, the AS standard has evolved to AS9100 Rev. B and is recognized by all major Aerospace OEMs. AS9100 Rev. B became effective in January 2004. The major difference between AS9100 and AS9100 Rev. B is the deletion of the option to certify to the ISO 1994 standard. In addition, as part of an AS9100 certification audit, a numerical scoring of the audit results is required. This is defined in the AS9101 rev. B checklist document. An organizations AS9100 certification status and the scoring results from the certification audit are posted in SAEs OASIS database. Access to the OASIS database for information on organizations certified to AS9100 is available to the general public. Access to the scoring results is limited to only authorized controlling entities for the Registrar Management Committee. Entities allowed access to OASIS scoring are members of IAQG, AAQG and RMC. About AS9120: To learn more about the AS9100 and AS9120 standard requirements, attend an online training webinar. Supplier Requirements: Currently, the Boeing Company requires all Boeing suppliers to be BQMS (Boeing's Quality Management System) approved or have a waiver. AS9100 Rev A is a significant part of Boeing's BQMS requirements. General Electric Aircraft Engines (GEAE) was one of the first manufacturers to require AS9000 compliance by all of their direct material suppliers. Currently, GEAE is requiring AS9100 certification for all new suppliers, and existing suppliers have a gap audit and a certification audit performed to coincide with their existing surveillance audit schedule. TÜV Management Service is a GEAE approved Registrar. Join us for an informative online training webinar discussing AS9100. Click here for details.
