What is EMC?
EMC
Testing measures the emissions and immunity of a product during normal operations,
ensuring it does not interfere with or is interfered by other products.
Electromagnetic Emissions
Electromagnetic emissions relate to radio
frequency waves that are emitted from an electronic device during normal operation.
These electromagnetic waves can interfere with the normal operation of other electronic
equipment. Each product has specific frequency ranges within which they are allowed
to transmit. The frequency ranges have been determined by the type of product
and by regulatory authorities such as the FCC and European Norms.
Electromagnetic Immunity
Immunity refers to a product's ability to withstand
a specified level of external electromagnetic interference. With the proliferation
of electronic devices, there are an increasing number of standards covering a
range of product immunity issues including Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Radiated
Electromagnetic Field Immunity, Electrical Transient/Burst Immunity, Surge Immunity,
and Immunity to Conducted Disturbances. TÜV Product Service can test your
product for all your immunity needs.
TÜV-Mark
To provide further differentiation of your products, TÜV offers the TÜV-Mark
for EMC. This certification mark verifies that your product meets EMC
requirements and is recognized by an independent third-party organization,
TÜV Product Service.
The CE Marking
The
CE Marking is an EU recognized certification mark that specifies that
your product has been tested and complies with the European Union Electromagnetic
Compatibility Directive and other relevant directives, standards or norms.
The CE Marking is required in the European Union, providing visible proof
that your product meets the essential requirements. All such products
must bear the marking as a minimum base requirement for market entry.
